On 15-16 November representatives of the Sejm National Defense Commission (SKON) visited the NATO Headquarters in Brussels and the Head of Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Mons. The Nobilis Media Safety and Defense think tank was co-organizer of the visit of NATO members.
The head of the delegation was MEP Michał Jach, chairman of SKON, accompanied by six other members of the Commission. Marek Jakubiak, Deputy Chairman of SKON and MEPs: Anna Maria Siarkowska, Leszek Dobrzyński, Radosław Lubczyk, Artur Szałabawka and Paweł Szramka were among the deputies. The delegation was accompanied by Sylwester Chruszcz, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Infrastructure, and Artur Bilski, President of the Board of Nobilis Media Safety and Defense, a Polish think-tank specializing in security and defense issues.
In Brussels, Polish deputies met with Ambassador Rose E. Gottemoeller, Deputy Secretary General of NATO, and participated in a series of briefings on the current challenges facing the Alliance. During the meetings were discussed. relations with Russia, aspects of reinforced NATO presence (Enhanced Forward Presence, eFP) and the most important security threats from the Alliance's point of view. MEPs also met with representatives of several NATO member states at the Headquarters and Ambassador Marek Ziółkowski, Permanent Representative of Poland to NATO and staff of the Delegation.
General Hugues Delort-Laval, deputy chief of staff of this unit, presented the most important aspects of the cooperation between the command and the armed forces of the NATO member states. Colonel Wojciech Ozga, Polish National Military Representative at SHAPE discussed the role and tasks that relate to his office and presented the Polish Armed Forces' contribution to the current mission and operations of the Alliance. MEPs also took part in a discussion with Mark Laita, advisor to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) for Strategic Communications.
