On threats and crises

The use of modern technologies for crisis management, information protection and intelligence threats for the Polish energy and chemical sector was discussed during the next Security Security Conference in Szczecin, which took place on 27 March.

Participation in it, among others deputies of the Parliamentary Committee of National Defense, industry and state services.
- The issue of crisis and threats that the modern world generates has led to the fact that internal security and external security have penetrated so much that it is difficult to determine their limits - said Michał Jach, chairman of the parliamentary National Defense Committee.

- What is happening in Europe at the moment is caused primarily by Russia's aggressive policy. Now no one is questioning the threat to the world that is born in the policy of this country. The chairman, as an example of such a policy, gave recent reports from Great Britain about an attempt to poison former Russian agent Sergey Skripal and his daughter. "It is unimaginable," said Jach.

- This shows that Russia is ready to do a lot to destabilize the situation. The attack with the use of chemical weapons seemed absurd in modern times. In the meantime, it actually happened. According to the chairman, Russia, wanting to regain the position of the world power, is testing the resilience and possibilities to what borders it can go to the countries in the center of the world, which is Europe. According to him, the matter of the arrest of a Russian agent who was active in the Ministry of Energy shows that the methods of influence on other countries by Russia are used and one must be aware of this and fight it. Łukasz Adamiak, head of the Internal Security Agency in Western Pomerania, talked about the protection of classified information and sensitive data.

- Introduction to a crisis situation is the loss of classified information and sensitive data, more specifically to obtain the data by the opponent - explained Adamiak. There are plenipotentiaries for the protection of classified information in the Polish legal system.

- Agents for the protection of personal data have also recently appeared in public institutions - Adamiak claimed. He pointed out that disclosure of classified information could cause damage to our country and this threat can not be underestimated.

- Analyzing the issues of natural, civilizational or military threats, we could generate a huge number of them - admitted Paweł Rodzoś, director of the Department of Security and Crisis Management in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship Office.

- Therefore, in the security environment, we approach pragmatically the issue of threats and try to search for those with whom we can realistically deal.
The topic of intelligence threats for the Polish energy and chemical sector was also discussed.

- Energy security is our and every country's national interest - explained Marek Jasztal, deputy commander of the provincial police in Szczecin. But as he added, it is also "salt in the eyes of other countries that have a different interest than we do." An example is Russian lobbying for the import of gas from this country, which our eastern neighbor is trying to eliminate from other countries exports.

The purpose of the training in Szczecin is to acquire legal knowledge and skills to prevent and counter crisis situations and hybrid activities, to rationally function in these situations, to eliminate their consequences, and to prepare for management in infrastructure threatening situations. Among the more than sixty participants of the training there were representatives of GDDKiA Branch in Szczecin, Port Authority Gdynia, State Enterprise Ports from Warsaw, Regional Directorate of State Forests from Szczecin, Maritime Office from Szczecin, Seaports Szczecin and Świnoujście, Europol Gaz S.A. , PGE Dolna Odra, Polska Żegluga Morska.
